I realised recently that I’m always a little angry about constantly being told to ‘leave politics out of this’ whenever I give an opinion about something.
Divorcing politics from seemingly mundane things is an illusion of a luxury that just doesn’t exist. My friends are tired of me ranting about that, so I rant here now.
I try to write about how political engagement is and can be everywhere: what you read, what you watch, who you talk to and what you talk about, and pretty much everything else.
I will be sharing things I find interesting and enraging and amusing and thought-provoking and funny and infuriating and all the other feelings. Essentially, I will be forcing a one-way friendship right into your inbox.
Just being honest before you subscribe.
You will not find “high discourse” here, but what you will find are true and honest accounts of how I’m feeling and what my thoughts are about the various things that affect me.
Finally, I am an Arab woman, I live in London, and I consume a lot of American culture and politics. I’m telling you this so you understand the prism through which I see the world and the biases I have. Biases of which I’m aware and trying to overcome.
